Aesthetics (This refers to
the WebQuest page itself, not the external resources linked to it.) |
Overall visual appeal (0-2)
1
It was okay visually but basic, just text. There
were no pictures. It had a yellow background with blue print.
| Introduction |
Motivational effectiveness of Introduction (0-2)
2
I liked this. It related to students and not knowing
how to begin such a cumbersome process. It talked about what they would
explore in this webquest.
Cognitive effectiveness of the Introduction
(0-2)
2
This was very easy to understand. It walked the
student through exactly what they would do before starting their search
(ie, identifying interests and abilities) in a clear manner.
| Task (The
task is the end result of student efforts... not the steps involved in
getting there.) |
Cognitive level of the task (0-6)
5
The task was clearly stated at a high school level.
Although it did list several steps in getting there, the summary of the
task was “how to choose a college that is appropriate for you”
Technical sophistication of task (0-2)
1
This task is not very technically sophisticated.
It requires more time and thought than technical ability.
| Process (The
process is the step-by-step description of how students will accomplish
the task.) |
Clarity of Process (0-2)
2
The process is very clear. It provided students
with a 9 step process to follow starting with gathering their own high
school information (SAT scores, grades), taking personality and ability
tests, and then going on into an in depth search of colleges.
Richness of process (0-6)
5
I would say that this is a rich process. It delves
deep into the individuality of each student. Students could definitely
learn a lot about themselves if nothing else!
| Resources (Note:
you should evaluate all resources linked to the page, even if they are
in sections other than the Resources block. Also note that books, video
and other offline resources can and should be used where appropriate.) |
Quantity of resources (0-2)
2
This webquest offered over 30 links to other websites.
These included personality tests and quizzes, us news.com which has college
comparison programs and other information, and links to all of the universities
and colleges in North Carolina (the origin of the webquest)
Quality of resources (0-4)
2
All the links provided useful information and additional
resources to help students in their search. However, all the links were
for NC schools only. What if students want to go out of state?

| Evaluation |
Clarity of Evaluation Criteria (0-2)
1
The evaluation was a rubric to use if you were grading
the students on this project. I felt it was an okay rubric but for me,
I would not be grading the students, it would just be another tool to help
guide them. It is hard to evaluate a college search because it is so unique
to the individual.

I liked this webquest! As a counselor, I am always
looking for tools to use with college searching. Students would like this
and would certainly benefit from it.
